Prof. Emile van Zyl obtained a PhD at Princeton University, USA in 1989 and is currently Distinguished Professor in Microbiology at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Prof. van Zyl gained international recognition as research leader in the development of recombinant yeast for bioethanol production from cellulosic plant biomass. He has published 147 research articles and reviews in reputed journals with an Scopus h-index of 37 and has 14 joint international patents.
In 2007 Prof. van Zyl was awarded the prestigious SANERI/NRF Senior Research Chair in Biofuels and he is currently leading up a large research programme focussing in advanced second generation technologies for biomass conversion.
Prof. Shripad P. Mahulikar

Shripad P. Mahulikar is Professor in Dept. of Aerospace Eng. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B). He published 70 international journal articles on Heat Transfer & Thermodynamics; ref. < https://www.aero.iitb.ac.in/home/people/faculty/spm >. He obtained B.Tech. and integrated M.Tech. (by research) in Aerospace Eng. from IIT-B in 1991 and 1992, respectively, and Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 1999. He received A. von Humboldt Fellowship in Germany (2003, 2007, 2009), Outstanding Reviewer Award from ASME Journal of Heat Transfer in 2007, & DFG-Mercator Professorship in T.U. Hamburg, Germany (2012-13). He is invited to P.R. China under Foreign Experts’ Program for Research.
